Apparently another noodle shop in China has been adding opium to its dishes, to make them more appealing to repeat customers. Or so says the cook who, according to news reports, admitted he sprinkled powdered poppy plant on his dishes to “keep customers coming back“.
CNN reports the noodle shop owner admitted to buying the poppy and using it to make his food “taste better” and to “improve his business”.
We can’t tell if this is sensationalized international reporting, or something new. Poppy has been added to foods forever in the far east.
These generic claims of him wanting to “make it taste better” or “improve business” are far from an actual “I knew it was addicting like heroin and wanted to turn my customers into addicts so I could engage them into repeat business like a methadone clinic“.
We weren’t there… we didn’t interview the cook, so take it all with a grain of
opiates salt lol.
