For South Carolina’s Ted Vick, One DUI is Not Enough

Senator Ted Vick from South Caroilina. Supremely qualified to draft laws on behalf of the citizens of South Caroilina? Or maybe just needs alcoholism treatment.

South Carolina web site “The State” reports that used car salesman, local Pastor,  and State Representative Ted Vick has been arrested (again) for driving under the influence. According to the report, his lawyer disagrees that Vic was impaired.

Vick reportedly told the arresting officer last night that he “has drivers” but unfortunately for him, he failed to use one so has been arrested for DUI… again. Maybe Ted Vick has an alcohol problem?

"An officer saw Vick stumbling as he walked into a parking garage on the Statehouse grounds in Columbia. Vick got into his car and hit a cone before the officer could catch up and ask him to stop. Vick smelled like alcohol and refused field sobriety tests, according to an incident report."

This is Vick’s second DUI arrest in a year. But this one doesn’t appear to be as bad as the first DUI. Back in spring of 2012 when Vick was arrested for DUI, the reports were much uglier:

  • he was stopped for speeding (while under the influence)
  • he was also held on a weapons charge (he was packing a pistol?)
  • the 41 year old had an (allegedly) drunk 21 year old female University student with him in the car
